In an effort to Honor My Mother, I've decided to set the record straight and write a book about her life in music. Barbara 'Bobbie' Grant was an American singer, songwriter and musician whose song, He Cares, was produced by Sam Cooke and performed by Johnny Taylor and The Soul Stirrers.
During the time when this song was written there were very few female songwriters in the music industry. There were even fewer female songwriters who were women of color produced on major boutique labels. Barbara Grant was the first female songwriter produced by Sam Cooke on his SAR records label (SAR-103). This book is intended to set the record straight and hopefully rewrite history.
Since this is the Month we honor our Father's check out the Tribute to my Dad, on My Instagram Channel.
